About Us

Steve Yates | Downs Mist

Crawley Camera Club is the place to help you learn, improve and share your photography. We welcome photography enthusiasts of all levels of experience and with any camera – including the one in your smartphone. We look forward to seeing you and your images.

The Club meets all year round either online or in-person using our own facilities in the Tilgate Forest Recreation Centre (Hut 16) which is situated on a forest/parkland site used by other Crawley-based clubs and organisations. Club nights are Wednesdays from 7.45pm to about 10pm. Occasionally we also have Zoom meetings on some Mondays (for example talks). We have disabled access to the premises. We have our own studio facilities available for our members to use (following an induction/familiarisation session).

The Club welcomes new members whatever your level of interest and experience. Your first visit is free. Monthly membership subscription includes all meetings and a flexible studio session allowance. Fellow members are always willing to help you sort out problems or help you learn. We provide tuition, help, encouragement and an opportunity to share your images with friendly and constructive feedback.

Our programme runs throughout the year from the beginning of July. In July/August we have flexible sessions usually incorporating summer workshops based at the Hut. From September to June we have a full programme including learning sessions, competitions, studio evenings, talks and demonstrations. In 2020 we introduced online Zoom meetings and the success of these means there are likely to continue – particularly for talks with speakers from wider afield. We have our own competitions for prints and digital images. See overview of activities for further details on what we do.

The Club has been around Crawley for over 60 years and you can read a brief history of the Club here.
